At the camps our Programme Volunteers work with a group of up to 10 young people alongside two volunteering colleagues and an activity instructor. They take part in the activities with their group, and are involved in ensuring the welfare and organisation of the young people, helping them to get the most out of their time on our programme. From encouraging them to try an activity, supporting their social relationships and promoting team work, to ensuring they have their packed lunch and get to the activity on time, Programme Volunteers are essential to our programme.
Programme Volunteers need to be enthusiastic, hardworking and willing to get involved in a wide range of activities. They should be responsible individuals and able to act as positive role models. Volunteers need to be committed to helping young people have a fun and enjoyable time in a safe environment.
Previous experience of working with young people or of outdoor activities would be beneficial, but is not essential. No formal qualifications are required.
Training for our Programme Volunteers is offered at a weekend course held in the Brecon Beacons; accommodation and food is provided.
Wherever possible new volunteers should attend this course, although alternative arrangements may be available. We also offer ongoing training opportunities that address particular aspects of the role.
Camps take place in the school holidays at the end of May and in July and August. There are also local day activities in February, April, May, June and October.

How to Apply
It was great seeing the young people in my group overcome their fears and challenge themselves.
I just want to say how much I enjoyed Forest Camp – it was great fun, brilliantly organised and it was lovely to see how my group came together.
