This year the Youth Adventure Trust turns 25!
In that time we have changed thousands of young lives and worked with some amazing volunteers.
2017 is a time for looking forwards and putting some exciting plans in place to enable us to inspire even more young lives through outdoor adventure for the next 25 years.
The Youth Adventure Trust has been using outdoor adventure to inspire young lives for 25 years. In that time, we have helped over 3,800 vulnerable young people aged 11 – 14, delivered more than 27,000 activity days (including outdoor activities, music, arts, woodland and animation workshops) and worked with more than 600 amazing volunteers.
Today, our specially designed Youth Adventure programme runs over 3 school years and includes 3 residential camps and 7 different one-day activities. Our programme gives young people the hope, confidence and skills to face the challenges in their daily lives and builds their resilience.
The challenges these young people face are wide ranging. They include: bullying; struggling at school; low self-esteem; chaotic or unstable home lives; a lack of positive role models; low aspirations and low expectations of what they can achieve; behaviour issues; living in poverty, care or rural isolation; or caring for a family member.
Our young peoples’ circumstances can lead to them making poor choices that will affect the rest of their lives. We help them to overcome the challenges they face, make positive decisions, exceed their expectations and achieve their full potential in life.
This year we are launching our ambitious plans to develop as an organisation which will enable us to help more vulnerable young people fulfil their potential through outdoor adventure. There is an ever increasing need for our service and we must continue to deliver a long-term, quality intervention for the young people we work with.
Our plans are two-fold:
o To improve our end of programme care by developing a mentoring and bursary scheme
o To double the number of young people we work with over the next five years.
On behalf of every young person whose life we have touched over the past 25 years, we thank everybody who has given their time and/or money and look forward to the next 25 years of inspiring young lives.
We would like to invite individuals, businesses and community groups to join us on our journey over the next 25 years. Find out how you can Get Involved.
Together, we can continue to change lives through outdoor adventure.
