A Rough Outline
After a year away from the mountains, this year the Taylor Wimpey staff will be converging on the Lake District for a two-day challenge of endurance and teamwork, as well as some creative building skills. Teams from business units around the country will come together to build their own raft that they can paddle around a lake course on (hopefully without sinking!), before hiking through the stunning scenery of the Lake District the next day.
Those participating in the Taylor Wimpey Ultra will also be following an epic (and steep!) bike route alongside some of the most iconic Lakes and Valleys in the country.
Teams can choose to hike;
The Coniston Twenty – 20 kilometres / 12 miles
The Coniston Forty – 40 kilometres / 25 miles
The Taylor Wimpey Ultra – Ultra Bike Ride Tour of the Lakes (Approx 60km)
Teams should be made up of 4-6 people but no less than four so that no-one is left alone at any point. You will need to ensure that at least one, ideally two members of your team can navigate with a map and compass and the whole team must finish together. You will be timed and yes there are prizes!
We will have a tented village for all participants on the Thursday and Friday night. Don’t forget your sleeping bag and mat!
On the Saturday evening, following your hike, you’ll be swapping your walking boots for your dancing shoes for the gala dinner which will be held at The Kimpton Clocktower, Oxford St, Manchester M60 7HA
All teams commit to a fundraising target of £2,000, with at least 50% of funds raised being donated to the Youth Adventure Trust. Don’t worry – we are here to help you! We’ve got lots of helpful advice in our log-in area and we’ll be in regular contact throughout your fundraising journey.
