Organised by the Rotary Club of Swindon North & Thamesdown, their Charity SWIMATHON gives a team of swimmers the opportunity to collect sponsorship for your favourite charity – Youth Adventure Trust! Team members can be friends, school or work colleagues, family members, in fact any group with a shared aim. They organise and run the event and it’s totally free to enter.

Their SWIMATHON is not a marathon or a race. It’s a fun event for swimmers of all ages and abilities to take part. No-one will be asked to complete a certain distance or to swim at a certain speed, team members just swim in relay for 55 minutes. All swimmers will be given a medal and a certificate to show how many lengths they completed.

Ideally your team should have 4 to 8 members, people who are not only prepared to swim but also willing to collect sponsorship on themselves. Give your team a name, decide who will be the team captain, and select the charity or organisation you want to raise money for. They suggest that each team member endeavours to collect at least £50 sponsorship themselves. Funds raised will be collected by the Rotary Club and split equally between the Youth Adventure Trust (they will make a payment to the charity) and SMASH.
