Challenge Overview

It’s time to get back outside again and we have the perfect opportunity for anybody working in the outdoor and sports industries to take on the ultimate challenge in 2021. Join us for Hike Bike Paddle on Thursday 16th September 2021 in the Lake District. The event will be COVID-secure and we can guarantee glorious scenery, a huge challenge, and a rewarding experience we are sure you will enjoy.

The event is made up of 3 elements; Hike section of 15KM including reaching the top of Helvellyn, Bike section of 34KM off-road and on-road cycling and a Paddle section on stand up paddle boards to experience the true beauty of the Lakes!

  • Teams

We recommend teams of 4-6 people who can either enter the whole challenge or do the event as a relay (minimum numbers on each section will apply). You will need to ensure that at least two members can navigate with a map and compass and it’s definitely best if a couple of you are able to swim. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a team – you can still take part and we will team you up. You will be timed and yes there are prizes!

  • Location

Our Hike Bike Paddle challenge base will be the YHA Patterdale, which we have booked exclusively for event participants on the 15th & 16th September. We’ll be using the YHA as the venue for our challenge registration, event briefings, challenge base and the after-party.

  • Accommodation

We suggest participants plan to stay on the night before the challenge, the 15th September, as it is an early start on the challenge day! We will be hosting a socially distant celebration and prize giving after the event; a great chance to share your stories and compare challenge notes with friends and colleagues in your industry, so we recommend staying on the 16th September too, so you can celebrate properly.

Accommodation at the YHA Patterdale costs £90 per person for two nights bed and breakfast, including an evening meal on 15th September. There is also the option to camp in the grounds too. If you’d like to stay at the YHA then please let us know on your team registration form. Availability is limited and will be allocated on a first come first served basis – deposits will be required.

If you don’t live too far away then you can just come for the day – although we would definitely recommend getting somebody else to drive you after the challenge. You are also welcome to make your own accommodation arrangements if you prefer.

  • Entry Fee

£500 per team for up to 6 people, invoiced following registration. We know that 2020 was a challenging year but we think that it is more important than ever before to get back outdoors, for ourselves and for the young people who we are able to help thanks to the funds raised by this challenge. We have a number of partnership opportunities available so if you are interested in free entry, brand exposure and some fantastic content then take a look to see if any would suit you.
