The Youth Adventure Trust has changed my life in so many different ways. I went from a shy immature kid to a brave, caring and kind young man

We work with young people aged 11 to 16 years old from Wiltshire, Swindon and Somerset.

Our outdoor activity-based YAT Adventure Programme gives young people the opportunity to build resilience, challenge themselves, learn to go beyond their own expectations, develop social and life skills, and grow in confidence.  The programme lasts for two years, includes 8 activity days, 3 residential camps and ongoing support from a dedicated Programme Manager. It’s ASDAN accredited, with young people receiving an ASDAN credit for each camp they attend.

Our year long YAT Resilience Programme is based around monthly activity days accompanied by takeaway challenges, a two day overnight adventure and ongoing support from a dedicated Programme Manager. Young people take part in a wide range of engaging activities and challenges aimed at developing social skills, emotional control and confidence. They learn to recognise, build on and make the most of their strength, and develop the attributes and skills to make the most of their potential in the future.

Our YAT Mentoring Programme helps those young people identified as in need of some further support at the end of the main programme. Volunteer mentors work with young people for up to a year after the main programme finishes to help them continue building their resilience, confidence and life skills.

We also have a YAT Bursary Programme which is open to all those who have completed the main programme to help their next steps into further activities. They can apply for support towards kit and equipment, travel or club membership for two years after they complete the YAT Adventure Programme.

We aim to make a lasting improvement to the lives of all the young people we work with.

The Youth Adventure Trust is committed to safeguarding and protecting the welfare and wellbeing of young people. Please read our Safeguarding Policy and Procedures for further details. If you have any concerns about the safety, wellbeing or welfare of a young person please contact our Safeguarding Lead as a matter of urgency. You can also contact Childline for free on 0800 1111.

We are committed to providing a caring, supportive and friendly environment where young people learn to value and respect each other and are challenged to reach their full potential. We ask that all young people and families read our Code of Behaviour for Young People and Anti-Bullying Policy for Young People before starting out on their Youth Adventure Trust journey.

The Youth Adventure Trust gives young people such an amazing array of experiences. They develop skills in team building, empathy and resilience, and enhance their self confidence. Skills that will help them deal better with the challenges they face in their day-to-to-day lives. All young people should get a chance to do something half as rewarding as this
